Work History

Following completion of a psychology degree at the University of Queensland, then an honours degree in Melbourne in 1996, Leah began her career in child protection (both in Australia and the UK). Subsequently, she worked in drug and alcohol treatment, and then over the next 15 years in adult mental health assessment and treatment, both privately and in the government sector. Whilst working for the Sunshine Coast Division of General Practice, she completed a doctorate in clinical psychology with research focusing on people’s readiness for treatment following referral. She presented these findings at the 42nd Annual Conference of the Australian Psychological Society and they were published in the Australian Journal of Psychology 2007 (Vol 59).

Since the completion of her doctorate, she has worked in private practice treating numerous adults suffering from affective and anxiety disorders. In 2010 she took up a position as Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast where she supervised Masters students in the psychology clinic which involved overseeing their treatment administration, and psychological report writing. Furthermore, she conducted lectures in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and undertook research. In conjunction with lecturing, Leah specialised in medico legal report writing. At present, she focuses solely on the latter.

Leah is the Chair of the Sunshine Coast APS branch and a committee member of the Queensland College of Clinical Psychologists.
